The Raid is the Best Action Movie of the Decade!!!

Image
Hello once again action fans! For this installment of ”When You Say Action” we are going to the underground foreign action film vault and pull out one of the all time favorites.   I am talking about the ultimate action film that is a must see for all action movie fans.   It’s a movie called “ The Raid: Redemption. ”    Directed by Gareth Evans (“ Footsteps ”) the movie is about a group SWAT officers that are trying to take down a powerful drug lord in an apartment building filled with his henchmen.   But the drug lord finds out about the raid and he unleashes his gang of thugs on the police officers.   Without any hope of backup the officers must fight for their survival in a 30 story apartment   building as they attempt to complete their mission.    I had never heard of this movie but the trailer caught my interest.   It was filled with so many nonstop action scenes that I had to do an internet search.   I discovered “The Raid:   Redemption” was on DVD and I

Olympus Has Fallen

Ok action fan for this post I want to talk about an action movie that I saw over the weekend that’s been out for a little over a month. The movie I’m talking about is called “Olympus Has Fallen” featuring King Leonidas himself, Gerard Butler  (“ 300 ”). The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, (“ Training Day ”). Photo: roflrazzi.cheezburger.com    Granted it’s been awhile since we’ve seen Butler as an action hero on the big screen. The last time we saw him in this kind of role was in 2009’s “ Gamer .”   “Olympus Has Fallen” has proven that Butler still has what takes to be a great action star and not be in another chick flick like “ The Bounty Hunter .”    The White House, dubbed Olympus by the Secret Service, is taken over by a Korean terrorist (kind of ironic with what’s going on today) and his men for America’s wrong doing in their country. They also hold the president hostage with a number of the White House staff. The terrorists hold off the police and army as t

RoboCop Reboot

Photo:mlive.com    Okay action movie fans for this installment of “When You Say Action” let’s talk about the upcoming reboot of “ RoboCop .”    For those fans unfamiliar with this classic action series, let’s take a jump back in time to the very first “RoboCop” movie. The first movie came out on July 17, 1987 and its success sparked a franchise, including merchandise, two sequels, a television series, two animated TV series, a television mini-series, video games, a number of comic book adaptations and crossovers.    “Robocop” is about a policeman in the near future working in a crime ridden Detroit. The main character, Alex Murphy, is portrayed by Peter Weller (“24”). After being gunned down and left for dead Murphy is brought back to life in a cybernetic shell. He is dubbed RoboCop by OCP (Omni Consumer Products) and has no memory of his past. After several successful tests RoboCop is ready to clean up the streets of crime but soon he starts remembering that he was Alex Murph

New Rising Action Star-The Rock

Photo:mashable.com    Hello again action movie lovers. It’s time to get hit with the Rock and I don’t mean that literally. Hopefully nobody is bleeding from a head injury from an actual rock.    We’ve seen him wrestle, sing, and become a big time movie star, and no John Cena, it’s not you. Photo:bleachreport.com   I’m talking about Dwayne Johnson (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) otherwise known to his fans as The Rock. He was born in Hayward, California to Rocky and Ata Johnson. He traveled with his family because his father was a wrestler and Johnson was inspired to be like him one day. In 1996 he joined the WWE (“World Wrestleing Entertainment”) as Rocky Maivia and later on dubbed himself as The Rock. Later on his career he won the WWE title and became the “People’s Champion” which was a highlight for his career.    In 2000 Johnson appeared as the host of Saturday Night Live where also appeared will follow wrestlers Big Show (Paul Randall Wright Jr.), Mick

The Expendables 3???

Image
In 2010 we finally got to see a movie where a large number of action hero’s make a movie together. It was called “The Expendables” and it featured big name action heroes such as Sylvester Stallone (“Rambo”), Jet Li (“Fearless”) and Bruce Willis (“Die Hard”). Now with a second installment cooling down after being released on DVD imdb.com has announced there is going to be a third installment coming soon.    According to boxoffice.com, both movies earned a little over 28 million dollars for their opening weekends. But we as action fans have to wonder, who is left for a third installment of “The Expendables?” Some fans have already made YouTube videos voicing their opinions who should star in the upcoming film from Steven Segal, (“Above the Law”), Donnie Yen, (“Flashpoint”) and even Kurt Russell, (“Escape from LA”). All great suggestions but it’s going to be hard after the last one featured Jean-Claude Van Damme (“Universal Soldier”) as the villian and even brought in Chuck No

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning

Jean-Claude Van Damme has always played the hero in the Universal Soldier series, but in this installment that wasn’t the case.    In the fourth installment of the series directed by John Hyams (“Universal Soldier 3 Regeneration”) our hero is John played by Scott Adkins. Action fans may remember Adkins best for playing the hard hitting prison fighter, Yuri Boyka, in “Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing.”   In this movie John awakens from a coma with not much memory except for his family being killed by armed assailants lead by Luke Deveraux (Van Damm). John then swears vengeance on Deveraux and put the pieces of his shattered life back together. This journey pits John against Andrew Scott, portrayed by Dolph Lundgren, (“The Expendables 2”) and an army of UniSol’s   lead by Deveraux who wants to make a new world order lead by the UniSol’s.    This wasn’t the greatest movie for the Universal Soldier series. It had a hard to follow story line, too many government conspiracies, and
