Escape Plan

After the DVD release of “The Expendables 2” this blogger was excited to find out that Sylvester Stallone (“Rambo)” andArnold Schwarzenegger (“Predator”) were going to be working together again for their next upcoming action film. After months of waiting and reading different things online about this upcoming film, I gained more and more excitement to see it.

Stallone plays a character called Ray Breslin who is the Houdini of breaking out of maximum security prisons to ensure that they are in fact escape proof for the government. Breslin gets offered his next job to try to escape from a new and unofficial prison called “The Tomb” where its prisoners are sent to disappear off anyone’s radar. Breslin accepts the job but as soon as he enters the prison, things don’t go according to plan and Breslin soon realizes that he’s been set up and can’t escape. Breslin meets Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), who has a few secrets of his own.  Together Breslin and Rottmayer team up and try to escape from this so called escape proof prison while trying to find out why Breslin was set up.

As a fan of Stallone and Schwarzenegger since the “Rambo” and “Terminator” days, my only true concern while watching this film was that both of these guys are getting up there in age. Stallone who is now 67 and Schwarzenegger 66, you wonder to yourself how much do both of these action icons have left in the gas tank to keep making action films. “Escape Plan” proved that age wasn’t a factor for both of these actors from delivering corny action puns between both of their characters to  performing stunts, and doing fight scenes.

It was a nice surprise so see that Sam Neil (“Jurassic Park”) had a role in this movie as the prison doctor.  Fans will remember Neil from the failed show “Alcatraz” on FOX (which to this blogger thought was a good show) so it’s nice to see this actor still gets work.

One of my favorite characters in this movie was Jim Caviezel’s (“Person of Interest”) character as Warden Hobbes. This character felt like to me he had no soul, made sure he had complete control of his prison, and when it came to Breslin, he made sure that he knew that The Tomb was 100 percent escape proof.

“Escape Plan” is must see for all action fans and as well as Stallone and Schwarzenegger fans.

This blogger gives this movie a 10 on his movie scale.
